Wake-Up Your Inner Guitarist – Night Visualizing

I’m going to be totally honest with you about this one. This is a technique which I was a bit worried about including in the eBook and very nearly didn’t. It’s not that it won’t work for you, it certainly will if you commit to it and I’ve found it very useful over the years. It’s just that it’s something that you need to have a really open mind to try and is one for the more hard-core amongst you. However, in writing this guide I was keen not to hold anything back as my own ‘special secret’ so here it is.

There is a way you can turbo-charge your visualization sessions, one which reaches some of the very deepest levels of the mind and which you perform when you wake during the night.

You’ve probably heard the expression “sleep on it” which refers to turning a problem or question over to your sleeping mind to be solved. Well, here’s how you can use this process to empower your visualizations and reach your goal:

  1. Go to bed as normal.
  2. When you’ve finished reading or whatever other activity you have planned for the sack that night – lie back in the dark with your eyes closed.
  3. As you start to relax and wait for sleep to claim you, take a few deep breaths and try to relax a little more deeply. You can use the 8-step technique you learned earlier if you feel you need it. Silently tell yourself that you’ll wake up during the night when your mind is most open to being programmed for you to achieve your guitar-playing goals. Try to repeat it over and over as you drift off to sleep letting it be the last thing on your mind if you can.
  4. Allow yourself to drift off to sleep.

You’ll know if you’ve done this correctly because you will wake up in the night without understanding why. Once you do, just sit up in bed, take a couple of deep breaths and then simply begin your visualization that you composed in the last Part. That’s it. You don’t need to go through the relaxation process at this point as you should already be deeply relaxed. When you’ve finished, allow yourself to go back to sleep. If you happen to fall asleep while visualizing, don’t worry about it, it’s fine with this technique. It will still work.

It may take a few nights before you manage to wake yourself but, if you persevere with this more advanced method, it will work for you. One more thing, if you live alone or you’re certain you won’t disturb the person lying next to you, you can maximize this method by playing your affirmations for a while in the background while you visualize.
